The punk band from the South Bay, Homesick Abortions, approached me to design their new album layout. They already had an album cover created by their friend Nicholas Nak, but needed a comprehensive layout design, along with a stylish title treatment for both the band and the album names. Initially, I crafted the design for a CD format, but given the resurgence of vinyl records and the declining use of CDs, I decided to revamp the design with a vintage vinyl flair to capture that classic essence and appeal. I had never done anything with this kind of style before, grungy, visceral, and aggressive. It was a nice challenge and the band was thrilled with the outcome.
